A small circular dish with slightly everted rim painted in the centre with a landscape scene with a scholar crossing a bridge approaching a pavilion within circular double-line bordered medallion. The scholar, distant mountains, bridges and trees are all painted in underglaze blue in the style of the 'Master of the Rocks', except for the foliage of a tree in the centre, which is drawn in underglaze red. The inner mouth rim is decorated by a narrow band of classic scroll. The footrim has a narrow concave groove forming a double foot rim, which is commonly found in this period.

Production notes
Several similar dishes with dates ranging from 1671-1674 are known. The Shanghai Museum and the Hong Kong Museum both have examples, the HongKong Museum's one ,a pair to this one as regards the mark but with a different central design, all the central designs on these dishes seem to be unique, having been given them by BSM.
