Description part summary
An octagonal famille rose dish decorated with a pair of crested songbirds with their heads raised in chorus. The birds are perched on the slender bough of a peony tree, the large heavily petalled open blooms in milky pink with veining pencilled in richer tone. There are clusters of leaves in green and turquoise intertwined with the thorned stem of a rose, bearing buds and flowers in deeper pink. There is also a decaying branch of insect eaten foliage in shaded pink and yellow. The scene is enclosed with an elaborate border of gold, turquoise and rose floral border between an outer and inner cell diaper borders in black and pale green.
