Description
Description part summary
A gold filigree fitting for a noblewoman's headdress in the shape of a phoenix, its head on a long neck held back against the body. The crown of the head of the phoenix, which has a crest, is inlaid with a ruby. Such phoenix fittings with only minor variations were produced over a long period from about 1000 to 1500 AD. This one seems to relate closest to Song examples of circa 1200 AD.
