Description
Description part summary
A covered square Canton enamel condiment container in Queen Anne English silver shape, the lid indented to take a spoon. The lid and body are each divided into four sections decorated with eight-petalled flowers in red, yellow and blue enamels surrounded by green tendrils all on a white bordered, plum-coloured ground. The base shows a stylised peony in plum, blue and yellow enamels, while the neck is decorated with a swastika key fret on a yellow ground. The copying of the English silver shape and thinner gilding than on the Beijing example (Exhibit 310) identify this piece as probably having been produced in Canton for export.
