Japanese Noritake bowl of tapering rectangular shape with two handles, the interior decorated in the centre with a bunch of roses and other flowers in well drawn European manner on a white ground, the cavetto with two panels of similar floral groups framed with brackets and scrolling decoration in royal blue and gilding enhancement on each side under a similar palette feathered border with four petalled florets at the cardinal points the cavetto and border decoration all on a background of pale cafe au lait with pale ultramarine surround all between gilded borders, the handles plain but with traces of gilding, the base with a green 'komaru' mark and the words 'Noritake' above the mark and 'made in Japan' below the mark.
