Circular covered brass box decorated in champleve enamel technique in a famille rose palette with books, vases and scholar's objects both on the cover and on the sides above a false gadroon border, the sides of the cover with a pattern of alternating stylised ruyi heads and three petalled daisies; the background retaining a golden ground with stylised cloud shaped turquoise-filled cloisons in otherwise vacant areas; the base in cloisonne enamel with a black peony spray on a turqoise ground
