Description part summary
A Cizhou jar of globular shape with slightly everted mouth rim and flared foot-rim. The grey stoneware body is covered with a white slip which is deeply carved through the slip to the body with peony scrolls above a petalled border and below a carved dog-tooth and petal double-border round the mouth. The whole jar is covered with a transparent glaze of yellowish-white tone. The base is unglazed showing the grey body.
