This pale jade box is in Moghul style and has traces of gold mounts for jewelled inlays on the lid. Moghul jades from Turkestan work fascinated Emperor Qianlong (1736-96) and after the incorporation of Turkestan into China circa 1770 the Chinese jade carvers created many pieces in that style.
