Description part summary
A circular celadon covered box, the cover and base fired together, the sides with multiple ridges in low relief, and the cover with similar ridges in the broad outer ring. The central medallion, 7cm in diameter, has floral sprays in low relief probably of camelia and convolvulus flowers all under a blue green celadon glaze; the protruding base is solid and unglazed without spurs; probably from the Longquan kiln. The colour of this box is the preferred colour of the period and the decoration and colour closely imitate contemporary Koryo celadons, which would, however, have been fired on silica spurs or a ring of sand.
