Production notes
This piece compares with the famous bowls copying Limoges enamels in the collection of the Guimet Museum, Paris. There are only six known examples of Chinese ceramics copying Limoges enamels. Four are in the same shape as the Guimet double-handled bowls (BSM once owned one of them, a particularly beat up example ,which he sold at Christies which was bought by Quincy Chuang, a well known HongKong collector) and two only (including this example) in the shape of the bowl here, the other example being in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
