Description
Description part summary
A wine pot with cover in the shape of a squat melon with a six-lobed globular body and short, tapering circular spout, a three-ridged strap handle and shallow footrim covered with crackled transparent yellowish white glaze. The base is unglazed revealing a white body with iron impurities and five spur marks. The cover and mouth have four spur marks showing they were fired together, so that any warping would not prevent a fit. This firing method is an early feature. The cover also has a hole for threading a string for tying the cover to the handle.
