Description part summary
A Cizhou pillow of oblong four-lobed shape, the top decorated with a long, beehive-shaped flower against a close, small ring-punched so called 'fish-roe' ground surrounded by a band of incised classic scroll. The sides are decorated with incised stars and circles alternating in vertical rows in panels, the decoration carved through the white slip to a brown underslip. The whole (other than the base) covered by a transparent glassy glaze.
