Description part summary
A circular black lacquer box built up on pewter. The piece is decorated with gold lacquer in low relief with a flowering cherry-tree which extends over both halves of the box. The centre of the top has a double gourd shaped cartouche with pavilion amid trees with a four character signature in gold and red seal 'Ikawa Hogen hitsu' (hitsu meaning written). The interior and base have gold dust sprinkling.
