Production notes
Such important pieces were probably made at Yanxiadu, the southern capital of the State of Yan from 311 to 222 BC when the city was destroyed by the Qin emperor in his unification of China during the late Warring States period. Ceramic mooulds showing such textile and lost wax traces were excavated from the ruins of this city in the 1980s. Emma Bunker, the world expert on the Ordos culture pieces, was very envious of these pieces.
