A zitan brush pot with carved prunus tree and two calligraphic inscriptions one dated 1785 giving the Qianlong reign name and one allegedly by a famous Qing artist and with two seals. The slightly greyish wood has orange flecks and is of the finest quality - the zitan being of the type called Golden Fleece. The brushpot, its base and the three feet all integral with the pot.
